This Webots example from the 2012 ShanghAI Lectures explores the emergence of complex collective behavior (here a clustering of loose boxes) from sets of mobile robots with a very simple obstacle avoidance behavior.
NOTE (3/12/14): This is an updated version (v2) that now builds ok with Webots PRO 8.0.1 (tested on Ubuntu). There are some issues with stability (on Ubuntu at least), which we will try to fix. Do let us know if the robots do not work ok for you.
