Since the creation of the USTHB, more than one hundred thousand students passed on the benches of Bab-Ezzouar. Today, a community of nearly twenty-five thousand people lives on the campus, a score of thousands of students, plus thousand five hundred teachers, as many workers in the administrative and technical services. Meanwhile, more than forty thousand graduates were formed by the USTHB in the various cycles (Bachelor, Licence, Master, Doctorate…).

The USTHB main missions are twofold: the education programs in graduation and post-graduation and research, The later is being improved in its type of organization and of management  within  the new  launched reforms which will touch the Algerian University. Its ambition is to ensure a formation of quality, in conformity with the international standards, taking into consideration the opening towards art and literature and  the student integration into the society

Conceived by the Brazilian architect Mr. Oscar Niemeyer, the University of Sciences and the Technology of Algiers (U.S.T.A) was created officially by the ordinance N° 74-50 of April 25, 1974, it will take the denomination “University of Sciences and Technology Houari Boumediene” USTHB in 1980), to be a pole of formation and research in Sciences and Technology.  In this spirit it took succession of the Faculty of Science of the University of Algiers, the FAC as known by the students, it included the polytechnic national school which was part of it during a few years, to become again autonomous in 1983, with this objective to develop synergy between the advances in knowledge and technology.

Project Report 2009 available
The Project Report of last year's ShanghAI Lectures is available as a PDF in two versions: Optimized for online viewing (ca. 5 MB) and optimized for printing (ca. 22 MB).
 
ShanghAI Lectures 2010

Planning for the ShanghAI Lectures 2010 has started.

There will be another round of videoconference lectures, complemented with discussions and exercises in the collaborative virtual environment. Intended start: 30 September 2010.
